Amedeo Custoza Superiore DOC

Amedeo Custoza Superiore DOC

Story of the wine:
Until the early 1960's virtually all the wine of Custoza was sold as Soave. Then with the Piona family in the forefront, the local producers began to sell their wine as Custoza. Maintaining this position leading developments in the region Cavalchina is now oak ageing Custoza to give extra depth and weight. The name Amedeo refers to the Prince Amedeo of Savoia who was injured in the Cavalchina vineyards at the Battle of Custoza in 1866 during the Third War of Independence.
