We are wine merchants (VinumTerra is Latin for “wine of the world”) traditionally specialising in Italian wines and are now extending our portfolio into wines from the rest of the world. We currently represent 47 estates and 191 wines from Italy and 38 estates and 85 wines from the rest of the world.
We were established in 1991 by Angelo Cane, who trained as an oenologist at Alba Oenological School and we focus on producers who can make good quality wine year after year, with the distinctive flavour and the typical taste of the grapes and the region.
Many of the wineries we deal with are small to medium sized and often family owned and run. But we also represent some of the most dynamic co-ops in Italy. The awards our wines win at events such as the International Wine Challenge, Decanter World Wine, International Wine and Spirit Competition and in Gambero Rosso and various magazine tastings as well as the press comments are testament to the effectiveness of this philosophy.
How we do operate?
Our own dedicated delivery service is able to deliver to customers within the M25. Deliveries outside the M25 are made within three working days.
We also have an office and warehouse in Scotland with our own delivery system
What sector of the market does VinumTerra operate in?
A great deal of our work is with the on-trade, not only Italian focussed but also the top International restaurants, including Michelin starred restaurants.
For the restaurants we have a dedicated sales team led Sergio Fraudentali for England and Wales and Luigi Tana for Scotland.
We also have Peter Nixson, formerly the wine buyer for British Airways and with over 20 years’ experience, as part of our team. He is focussing on the hospitality sector, particularly restaurant chains.
VinumTerra has a presence in this part of the market dealt with by Chris Loveday and Angelo Cane. We service and have serviced major outlets such as Marks and Spencer, Waitrose, Majestic Wine, British Airways, Oddbins, E.H. Booth & Co., Costco, The Wine Society and Harrods; often with exclusive labels.
It is also important to VinumTerra not to lose sight of the independent merchant who has a particular expertise in selling the small scale, unusual or the esoteric.
